Meet Our Team

Jamie Thompson

Jamie’s passion for fitness started at a young age. As a very awkward, and admittedly geeky, kid growing up in Ft. Wayne, IN, Jamie loved playing soccer, basketball, softball, running track, and ultimately she found her first love…volleyball. During a summer camp Jamie learned what an athletic scholarship was, and her mission was set. To play in college she knew she needed to get a lot stronger, quicker, and more powerful. She remembers her first day in “bodybuilding” class in high school, “It was a room full of football and baseball players who had been training together all year, I remember following the football coach around, and doing whatever he told the boys to do. He worked with me and made me a better athlete and a tougher person. By the end of the semester it made a huge difference on the volleyball court.” In large part to amazing mentors and a lot of hard work on the court and in the weight room, Jamie accomplished her dream and earned a volleyball scholarship to Virginia Tech. Her experience in collegiate athletics was life changing. She found herself surrounded by strong, tough, smart women and the effect was transformative. While playing volleyball at VT her interest in fitness continued to grow. Her senior year she was offered a Graduate Assistantship in the Strength and Conditioning Department at Ohio University and quickly accepted. She fell in love with coaching and decided to make a career of it. She received her Master of Science degree in Sports Sciences and was blessed to earn her dream job at VT as the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for Olympic Sports. During her coaching career she worked with Women's Basketball, Volleyball, Women's Soccer, Tennis, Swimming & Diving, and Cheerleading. She was privileged to work with Olympians, All-Americans, and some shy nervous freshman who transformed into seniors with grit who lead their teams to championships and ultimately evolved into leaders in their respected professions. Jamie and her husband eventually moved to Scottsdale, AZ where she became the Fitness Director and a Personal Trainer at Gainey Village Health Club. She was blessed to work with a phenomenal staff of trainers. Two trainers were especially passionate about CrossFit, and they graciously shared their love and knowledge with Jamie. Soon after she earned her Level 1 Coaching Certificate. The following year, they successfully started a CrossFit Affiliate (box) at the club. She was so happy to have found a passion and purpose in CrossFit. While in AZ she and her husband started a family and had 3 amazing daughters—a major reason she decided to move back to PA. Shortly after moving back she found CrossFit TPA. As soon as she walked in the garage door she knew she was home. After she and her family got settled Jamie was thrilled to be invited to join the staff at TPA! In 2016 she earned her Level 2 Coaching Certification, and remembers it as a “challenging, humbling, and invaluable experience.” Later that year, when baby #4 was on the way, she stepped away from coaching to focus on her family. Now her “baby” is two and loves to say “my momma coaching exercise…CrossssssFit!” Jamie says she is so honored and excited to be a part of the coaching staff and that she looks forward to helping you accomplish your goals! Along the way she has attained her CrossFit Level 1 Certification, CrossFit Level 2 Certification, CrossFit Mobility Certification, National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS), Functional Movement Screen (FMS) 1&2, and USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach. Jamie’s goal is to be a siren of encouragement to members in pursuit of their best
